Our next reading is finally happening. Please join me on Sunday, November 22nd, 5 pm at my home in Adams Morgan DC. I couldn't be prouder about having Gerald Maa's poetry and Alison Hennessee's prose. They are two of my favorite writers and people in the University of Maryland MFA program (Gerald a few years out). Here are some words on the the two of them:
Gerald Maa's translations appear or are forthcoming in places such as Circumference, Poetry Northwest, and Chinese Writers on Writing. He also has an essay forthcoming in Studies in Romanticism. He has earned a translation grant from The International Center for Writing and Translation as well as fellowships from the Library of Congress and the Bread Loaf Conference. A founding editor of The Asian American Literary Review, he teaches at the University of Maryland and lives in DC.
Alison Hennessee's bio is forthcoming.

Reading Group
Hi all,
Clive James often publishes articles on poetrymagazine.com about the decay of structure in poetry. He has a great one right now. I think it is probably a great article to read and disagree with or agree with. I'd love to get a discussion of it going here. Here is a link to the article:

A new Interest of mine
When reading the new york times article about hip pot bellies (by reading I mean looking at the photos), I saw an advertisement for a Broadway play. I remembered how much I've liked going to plays in my life. And I thought that it would be great to go to another play. I'm not that clued into the theatre scene anywhere, let alone here in the District. I'm calling on all of you to send me recommendations on theatre's to go to. I'd then like to organize a trip to see a play.
I'm looking for all different sorts of recommendations. Classic, contemporary, or whatever. Let me know what you have seen.

Amazing link and podcast
I love poetry magazine, and I love their website poetrymagazine.org. You should check both out. Here is a link that I find especially wonderful. It's the essential american poets podcast. If you go to this website you will find recordings of such wonderful american poets as Philip Levine, Maxine Kumin, C.K. Williams, Galway Kinnel, as well as the usuals. W.C.W. E.B. and so forth. Really great way to waste away the work day:
